UZUNKOPRU PUBLIC LIBRARY
The public library is located in Atatürk Square on Atalar street in the center of Uzunkopru. It
was built in 1914 as a Turkish Center. It was restored with the materials brought from
Marseille in 1928 with the contributions of District Governor Reşit Bey and the local people,
and reopened on October 29 at the Celebrations relating to the Republic Day in Turkey. It was
used as the Community Center until 1951. With the closure of the Community Centers, all the
items in it and 3000 books were transferred to the State Treasury. The building, which was
not used until 1968, has been serving as the District Public Library since 2011. The historical
two-floor building is built in classical Turkish style.
There is also a section for the children on the upper floor of the library. With its nearly 30
thousand books, Uzunkopru Public Library is located opposite the Bus Terminal and serves
between 8:30 and 17:30 every day except Sunday.
